Why Hire A Doula?

A Birth Doula provides constant emotional and physical support during labor and birth. Our job first and foremost, is to help educate birthing people about their role in this amazing process and help them make informed decisions. We provide comfort measures during labor, and are there to be an advocate for what the birthing person wants. We do not perform clinical tasks such as checking cervixes or blood pressure, that is your care providers job. We provide support after birth and help new parents adjust to the demands of newborn life. This is extremely important because the postpartum period is one of the most emotional, vulnerable, and difficult experiences of a new mother’s life. We help people in their goals and desires to breastfeed successfully and provide information and support to everyone on their own unique journey. Hiring a Doula helps decrease the risk of intervention and birth trauma and increases the chance of a positive birth experience no matter what happens!
